The FBI has designated the January murders of two Texas teenagers by their father an "honor killing." While,some members of the Muslim community in America are worried that the designation will only stir greater prejudice against Islam, the teenagers' great-aunt has encouraged the view from the beginning. The United Nations estimates that 5,000 women are killed worldwide every year in honor killings — mostly in the Middle East, where many countries still have laws that protect men who murder female relatives they believe have engaged in inappropriate activity.
